Tom Green County Crisis Intervention Volunteer Training

Volunteer Opportunities	VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Have you ever thought about doing something to make a difference in the lives of others? Would you like to become part of a group whose mission is to help others when they most need the assistance? Do not miss this exciting opportunity to participate in direct victim services. The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Crisis Intervention Unit is accepting volunteer applications at the Sheriff’s Office, located at 222 W. Harris. The intensive 36-hour training includes Dynamics of Family Violence, Investigation of Family Violence, Rape Trauma Syndrome, Child Abuse, Grief Counseling, Crisis Counseling, and other relevant topics. Volunteers working at the C.I.U. have a unique opportunity to assist victims at the crime scene when a request is made by a law enforcement officer. Volunteers may perform duties inclusive of crisis counseling, assessment of needs, make community referrals and provide vital crime victims' rights standards.
