The Tom Green County Sheriff’s Crisis Intervention Unit is accepting volunteer
applications at the Sheriff’s Office, located at 222 W. Harris.
The intensive 36-hour training includes Dynamics of Family Violence,
Investigation of Family Violence, Rape Trauma Syndrome, Child Abuse, Grief
Counseling, Crisis Counseling, and other relevant topics. Volunteers working at
the C.I.U. have a unique opportunity to assist victims at the crime scene when a request is made by a law enforcement officer.

WE ARE ...a 1st responder group that is called out by law enforcement officer request.
Volunteers and staff respond to the needs
of the victims and coordinates with other social service organizations and
the criminal justice system.
